Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 7, 2026
BreakMoves ("BreakMoves," "we," "us," or "our") built the BreakMoves mobile application (the "App") to help you turn TV commercial breaks and everyday pauses into short movement breaks. We care about your privacy, and we designed the App to keep your data on your device wherever possible. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
The short version: Your microphone audio never leaves your phone. We don't record, store, or transmit it. Your progress and settings are stored locally on your device. We collect limited, anonymous usage analytics to improve the App, and we receive the information you send us if you contact support.
1. Microphone and audio
In TV mode, the App uses your device's microphone to recognize the sound pattern of a commercial break so it can prompt a movement break. All audio processing happens entirely on your device. The App does not record, save, store, upload, or transmit any audio. No audio is ever sent to us or to any third party. The microphone is only active while you are using TV mode and have chosen to start listening.
You can use the App without granting microphone access at all — Nudge mode (timer-based reminders) and manually started breaks do not use the microphone.
2. Information stored on your device
Your activity and preferences — such as completed breaks, active minutes, progress and achievements, movement-style choice, and app settings — are stored locally on your device. This information stays on your phone and is not transmitted to us or stored on our servers. If you delete the App, this information is removed with it.
3. Analytics
To understand how the App is used and to improve it, we collect limited, anonymous usage data through PostHog, a third-party analytics provider. This includes app events and usage patterns such as which features are opened (for example TV mode, Nudge mode, or the activity view), whether workouts are started, completed, skipped, or ended early, and approximate session length.
This analytics data is anonymous and is not used to identify you. We do not collect your name, email, contacts, photos, location, or other personal identifiers through analytics. Analytics data is processed by PostHog on our behalf; you can learn more at posthog.com/privacy.
4. Information you send us
If you contact us through the in-app support form, we receive the message and the email address you provide (handled through our forms provider, Formspree) so we can respond. If you take part in beta testing, we may also receive feedback you choose to submit through a survey or feedback form. We use this information only to respond to you and improve the App.
5. Subscriptions and payments
If and when the App offers paid subscriptions, payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment card details. Any purchase and subscription information is handled under Apple's terms and privacy policy.
6. How we use information
- To provide and operate the App's features.
- To understand usage and improve the App (anonymous analytics).
- To respond to your support requests and feedback.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
7. Sharing
We do not sell or rent your information. We share information only with the service providers that help us operate the App — currently PostHog (anonymous analytics), Formspree (support messages), and Apple (app distribution and, where applicable, payments) — and only to the extent needed to provide those services. We may also disclose information if required by law.
8. Data retention
Information stored on your device remains until you delete it or remove the App. Anonymous analytics data is retained by our analytics provider for as long as needed to understand usage trends. Support messages are retained as long as needed to address your request.
9. Children
The App is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will address it.
10. Your choices
- You can decline or revoke microphone access in your device settings; the App still works without it.
- You can delete your locally stored data by deleting the App.
- You can contact us with any privacy questions at the address below.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
